I have been here for a week, and so far I have learned the following things:

1.) Nothing here makes sense.
2.) Animals are not supposed to talk, and they do. I think I prefer birds when they didn't have conversations outside my window.
3.) Everyone seems to carry their witchbook around, people should lock them up someplace.
4.) There are a lot of strange folks here with odd ways.
5.) What is there to do besides sit around?
6.) Why am I even writing this in here? Note to self: invest in a journal.

So if you don't meet an actual demon, it doesn't count right?

I can't think of any other way to make a deal with a demon.

[So much for not explaining devil fruit.]

In my world, it's possible to be cursed by eating a type of fruit. A power can be gained from it, at the cost of the curse. But there's not generally a choice or a deal with the devil involved. Quite a few people eat theirs on accident, not recognizing what they are. Some do it on purpose, and some people will go to extremes for that power... things that should never be done. But as I said, not everyone actively chooses to eat theirs.

Those who make the choice then to do it, then they are the ones that made the deals. Those who didn't were cursed, and it isn't their fault.

[There's a small grin. It's ironically both absolute thinking and yet not. Well, it's intriguing him at least.]

And yet the price is paid by everyone, eh? Indeed, those who choose it rarely pay as much of the cost.

That is really sad.

It is what it is.

I think people could do without the basic yelling and screaming about monsters though.

But if they didn't mean to get cursed...

Cursed or not, being upset about it won't fix it. And the power could be used for a lot of good, eh. It's more what you do with such a thing, the active choices a person makes that are the most important, don't you think?

But if you're using something evil to do it, is it still good? The Sermon of Mother Celia, the fifthteenth said is is like poisoning yourself to feed your family. Who will help them if you're gone?

[A small grin. The only thing keeping him from an endless suicide mission of vengeance was exactly that his family needed him to look after them one way or another.]

Who decides whether it's evil? Those who claim justice in my world are the ones using the fruits the most.

In this world, you can find magic powers from I guess "filial spirits." A little gift from the extra wings they give you. But so far as I can tell the condition isn't to use the power to murder people, it's for self defense for the people who don't have powers from their own world.

I think if you're killing someone to get that power, aye, you've definitely crossed an unnecessary line. But let's say a person is physically stronger than everyone else, from working at it, from being naturally bigger, and things like that. They have a responsibility to be careful if they don't want to hurt anyone, but it doesn't mean it can't be used for good thing like helping someone who isn't that strong, eh?

Thats right. [Luce nods, voice soft. Mr. Bird does bring up a good point about the spirits that don't worry Luce too much. Even if he will be staunch about them.]

So I guess it's kind of a witchbook, but we never made any deals with devils to get its power. Not even the Malnosso since they just give it whether we want it or not.

...So, we should just deal with it?

What if it gives you the resources to defend against the other problems in this place?

If I do not survive, then it simply means it is my time.

That's extremely fatalistic.

But its true, if it is my time. That means it is my time, and I can go into my next life- where hopefully I did well enough to move up.

I guess that's one reason to accept such a thing.

So it isn't that you believe in fate necessarily as much as you're not afraid to face your death if it comes to it?

Correct. Because, my next life will hopefully be better than this one.

You don't like your current life?

There are things I wish I could change, but I simply can't.
